German Major

About our program

Become proficient in the German language as you explore the literature, philosophy and arts that have shaped much of Western thought and continue to influence today's global society. You'll master all four language acquisition skills: speaking, understanding, reading and writing, while immersing yourself in the culture of the German-speaking world.

With opportunities for internships and study abroad programs, you'll have an opportunity to experience German culture firsthand, from the heart of Munich's bustling streets to the serene landscapes of the Alps. Here, you’ll focus on real-world application, whether it's research projects that tackle contemporary issues or service learning that connects you with German-speaking communities.

At Marquette, we learn and practice everything through the lens of service to others. That means you’ll graduate as a fluent German speaker — and a leader who’s grounded, curious and committed to making a positive impact.
