Jay RothmanJay O. Rothman, Arts '82
Whitefish Bay, Wis.

Jay is truly a counselor, whether he’s leading Wisconsin’s largest law firm, Foley & Lardner LLP, or serving as chairman of the board of directors of Children’s Hospital and Health System. He excels at his dual leadership roles.

Jay is a partner and business lawyer at Foley, practicing primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities law, takeover defense, and general corporate and business law. He regularly counsels publicly held companies on compliance matters under federal and state securities laws.

He is a member of the firm’s management committee and the former chair of the transactional & securities practice. He has represented underwriters and corporate issuers in various public offerings of both debt and equity securities.

“Every single day, I am challenged, I learn something new and I grow as a person,” he says. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Before joining Foley in 1986, Jay served as a law clerk to the Hon. Harlington Wood, Jr., U.S.. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

At Children’s, Jay is helping develop the system’s strategic plan at a time when the health care landscape is changing rapidly. He has been involved with the system for more than 10 years, and Foley has a long legacy of people serving at the hospital.

“It was just natural,” Jay said. “Children’s is a real asset to the community and the state of Wisconsin.”
