Disclaimer for students/alumni seeking positions via Handshake:
The Career Center makes every effort to thoroughly screen employers prior to granting them access to post jobs and internships at Marquette through the Handshake platform. Job and internship postings are also reviewed for legitimacy and relevancy. If you receive any communication from an employer in Handshake that you feel is suspicious or potentially fraudulent, do not continue interacting with the employer and do not provide any personal information. Contact the Career Center at career.center@marquette.edu with details about the situation and we will investigate and take appropriate action.
We recommend using sound judgement and caution as you search for jobs and internships in Handshake and any other online career platform. Be sure to perform due diligence in researching employers when applying for or accepting off-campus employment. Be mindful of any communication, offers or requests that seem inappropriate in nature or suggest that a scam is being attempted. Examples of things to look for include: receiving a job offer without having interviewed for a position, being asked to submit payment or share your bank account information before being considered for a position, or job postings that focus on the amount of money to be made with little to no reference to job duties.
