The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was revised to make the form easier to complete and to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the form. For the 2023-24 FAFSA, students (and parents, as appropriate) will report their tax year 2022 income information.
If you are selected for Verification, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is required to confirm your tax information. Students can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If you are not eligible to use the IRS DRT, you must submit a signed copy of your 2022 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).
If you are selected for Verification, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ is also required to confirm your parent(s) tax information. Parent(s) can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If your parent(s) are not eligible to use the IRS DRT, they must submit a signed copy of their 2022 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).
NOTE: If your parent(s) did not file a 2020 federal tax return and you receive notice you have been selected for verification, you must obtain documentation from the IRS that your parent(s) did not file.
For more information about the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (including eligibility requirements) and for instructions for requesting a Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript, visit Guidelines for the Verification Process, 2024-25.
