History: The Jackson County Catholic Community of Kansas has been a three-parish cluster comprised of St. Dominic Church, Holton, St. Francis Xavier Church, Mayetta, and Our Lady of Snows Shrine/ Mission, Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation, Mayetta, in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas (Archives: Kansas City, Kansas). Kansas City in Kansas archdiocesan priests have administered the cluster. St. Dominic’s and St. Francis Xavier’s have been predominantly non-Native American parishes whereas Our Lady of Snow has been a predominantly Potawatomi Indian parish.
