History: The Diocese of Covington was erected for western Kentucky from territory in the Diocese of Louisville, 1853. Covington lost territory to erect a diocese for eastern Kentucky, 1988, and it reported 200 Native American Catholics, 2003. Covington has served the following parishes and a school that have had some Native American parishioners (e.g. Cherokee, Shawnee):
