History: Founded in Italy, 1732, the Redemptorists (a.k.a. Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer), made their first U.S. foundation, 1832, which became the Baltimore Province, 1850. Records of the Denver Province and the Baltimore Province are all held in the Philadelphia archives.

Redemptorists self-identify with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淐.Ss.R.鈥 The Baltimore Province administered the following parishes among Native Americans:

1832-1838

St. John the Evangelist Church (Menominee), Green Bay, Wisconsin; with Dominicans 

1833-1839

St. Peter Church/ Holy Childhood of Jesus Church (Ottawa), Harbor Springs, Michigan

1834-1838

Holy Name of Mary Church (Ojibwa), Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan
