History: The Diocese of Lafayette was erected, 1944, from territory in the Diocese of Fort Wayne. Lafayette and its predecessors served St. Augustine Church, Rensselaer, which attended St. Joseph Indian Normal School (Dakota, Ojibwa), 1888-1896.
