History: St. Augustine Indian Mission, Winnebago, Winnebago Reservation, Nebraska, has been a predominantly Native American (Winnebago [Ho Chunk], Omaha) parish in the Archdiocese of Omaha (Archives: Omaha, Nebraska).

Rev. John H. Griese, an Omaha diocesan priest, established a residence in Winnebago, Winnebago Reservation, and later served

In collaboration with support from St. Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament (Archives: Wynnewood, Pennsylvania), and the Marquette League (Archives: Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Omaha arch/diocesan priests established and have administered St. Augustine Mission and School (Winnebago, Omaha)
