History: St. John before the Latin Gate Church, Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma, has been a predominantly non-Native American parish in the Cherokee Nation and in the Diocese of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Previously, it was in the Diocese of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma City diocesan priests at St. John’s had attended to St. Catherine Mission, Nowata, also a predominantly non-Native American parish, from which the following missions and stations were attended among Cherokee and Pawnee Indians in Oklahoma:
