History: St. Joseph Church and School, Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, has been a predominantly non-Native American parish in the Diocese of Yakima (Archives: Yakima, Washington).

1847-1856 (closed)

Rev. Eugene C. Chirouse, O.M.I., and Oblates of Mary Immaculate (Vancouver Province) (Archives: Vancouver, British Columbia) established and administered St. Joseph/ Ahtanum Mission (Yakama), Yakima River, until burned and destroyed by U.S. Cavalry

1867-1871

Rev. Louis Napoleon St. Onge reestablished and administered St. Joseph/ Ahtanum Mission, Yakima River; remains a chapel today

1872 (Natives declined)-2010s

Jesuits (Turin, California, Oregon Provinces) (Archives: St. Louis, Missouri) administered St. Joseph Church, Yakima

1875 (Natives declined)-present

Sisters of Charity of Providence (St. Ignatius, Mother Joseph Provinces) (Archives: Seattle, Washington) established and have administered St. Joseph School/ Academy; now staffed mostly by lay teachers
