History: Blessed Maria of the Apostles and Venerable Father Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan co-founded the Sisters of the Divine Savior in Italy, 1888, who have self-identified with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淪.D.S.鈥 They made its first U.S. foundation, 1895, and served the following Native American missions.

Sister Irene (Kathryn) De Marrais, S.D.S. (Sisseton-Wahpeton) (1915-2004), professed and served Native parishes in Minnesota (St. Stephen School, Minneapolis), South Dakota (Sisseton, St. Catherine Church), and Wisconsin through teaching and home visitations
