Marquette theologian to present annual 'History of Christianity Lecture' at Wheaton College

MILWAUKEE — Dr. Ulrich Lehner, a professor of religious history and historical theology at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, will present the annual History of Christianity Lecture at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill., on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.

Lehner is the first Catholic to give the lecture, and his topic will be "The Case of the Catholic Enlightenment."

Lehner's most recent book, Catholic Enlightenment, The Forgotten History of a Global Movement, was published in January 2016 by Oxford University Press.

He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and is a former member of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study, the Notre Dame Institute of Advanced Study, a research fellow at the Earhart Foundation, the German Humboldt Foundation and the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation.

The event is open to the public and free.
