MILWAUKEE – The Ӱ Law School and WISN 12 will co-host a live debate between the Wisconsin Supreme Court candidates on Tuesday, March 26, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The debate will take place in the Lubar Center at Ӱ Law School’s Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St. The debate will be broadcast live on WISN 12, and a live stream will be available on wisn.com and the 12 News Mobile App.

Mike Gousha, distinguished fellow in law and public policy at Ӱ Law School, will moderate the debate between Wisconsin Court of Appeals Chief Judge Lisa Neubauer and Wisconsin Court of Appeals Judge Brian Hagedorn. This debate takes place one week before the Wisconsin Supreme Court general election on April 2, 2019. The candidates are running to fill the seat of Justice Shirley Abrahamson, who is not seeking re-election.

“This Supreme Court election will affect every person in Wisconsin,” says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “Informing our viewers about the candidates in this race is an important responsibility that we are proud to take on.”

“This debate is an opportunity for not just the legal profession but the community more generally to gain a measure of the candidates for the state’s highest court,” says Dean Joseph D. Kearney. “Marquette Law School is grateful for the opportunity once again to partner with WISN in this sort of civic journalism.”

This is the 14th debate hosted at Marquette Law School and broadcast statewide by WISN 12.

Due to limited space, the event will be ticketed and all seats for members of the public have been reserved. News coverage of the debate and/or access to a pool feed is welcome and requires media credentials. Journalists must contact Kevin Conway at Ӱ, kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu, regarding credentials.
