Reggie Moore, architect of Milwaukee’s ‘Blueprint for Peace,’ will go ‘On the Issues’ Feb. 6
February 1, 2019
MILWAUKEE — Reggie Moore, director of the Milwaukee Health Department’s Office of Violence Prevention, will be the next featured guest in an upcoming “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Lubar Center at Ӱ Law School’s Eckstein Hall. Note that this time differs from typical lunch-hour “On the Issues” events.
As a young man growing up in Milwaukee, Moore saw firsthand the impact that violence has on the community. Today, as director of the Milwaukee Health Department’s Office of Violence Prevention, he is working hard with a range of community partners to make the city safer.
Appointed by Mayor Tom Barrett in 2016, Moore and his office engaged hundreds of community residents in the development of Milwaukee’s “Blueprint for Peace,” the city’s first comprehensive violence prevention plan offering a multifaceted public health approach not just to reduce the number of shootings, but also to build what Moore calls a stronger and more resilient community.
Moore is also the newest member of the steering committee for SWIM — Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee — an initiative co-founded and led by President Michael R. Lovell and Amy Lovell that is working to address the impact of trauma on the city.
Gousha, an award-winning broadcast journalist, is the Law School’s distinguished fellow in law and public policy. His “On the Issues” series of conversations with newsmakers supports Marquette Law School’s commitment to serve as a modern-day public square for the city of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and beyond.
Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, Gousha’s “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars and conferences on significant issues of public importance, the Law School serves as the region’s leading venue for serious civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
The event is open to members of the general public at no cost; registration is required and is available online. Members of the media who are interested in attending should contact Lynn Sheka in the Office of Marketing and Communication.
