Theology Department (Systematic Theology)

Danielle Nussberger (Ph.D., University of Notre Dame, 2008) specializes in systematic theology and spirituality. She has specific interests in the intersection between spirituality and theology, action and contemplation, and prayer and spiritual direction. 

Dr. Nussberger currently teaches courses on Christian spirituality, action and contemplation, trinitarian theology, and contemporary perspectives on Hans Urs von Balthasar. 

She has written on such topics as: psychic conversion in spiritual direction, contemplation in the undergraduate classroom, the spirituality of Lúcás Chan’s biblical ethics, and Hans Urs von Balthasar and Constance Fitzgerald on Holy Saturday and the dark night of impasse.
