The Burke Scholarship Program celebrated 25 years in 2019 and culminated with a weekend full of events in August 2019 that were attended by current and past scholars and their families, Marquette colleagues and friends of the program, Burke Foundation board members, staff and family members of Dick Burke.
Over the past 25 years, the program reflects some remarkable numbers:
- 185 Burke Scholarships have been granted to date.
- Over the past 25 years, Burke Scholars have completed more than 177,600 hours of service in the greater Milwaukee area, supporting social justice, community change and individual impact through more than 90 community organizations.
- Almost 50% of Burke Scholarship Program alumni reside in Wisconsin, serving as changemakers and active citizens in their local communities.
The Burke Scholarship Program genuinely and profoundly carries forward the university mission of incorporating academic excellence, faith, leadership and service to develop women and men for and with others.
