Curriculum Vitae

Associate Professor Emeritus of Accounting

Dr. Yahr came to Ӱ in September 1977, later receiving his doctorate in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 1979. Previously, he received two other accounting degrees—a masters degree from UNL in 1972 and a bachelors degree from Drake University in 1970. Before beginning his doctorate, he worked with three national public accounting firms--Ernst & Ernst, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. and Wolf & Co. He has taught a number of different accounting courses at Marquette in his 32 years at Marquette. In addition, he served one year as Acting Accounting Department Chairman, was the director of the initial Master of Accounting Science program, and is currently director of the department’s Internship Program.

His interests in governmental accounting are expanding beyond the traditional state and local governmental units to include both federal government accounting for the United States of American and governmental accounting in other countries.

He currently is a member of the Audit Advisory Committee at Milwaukee Area Technical College (the first Wisconsin governmental unit to have such a committee).
