- Student Field Network Assistant
Activities include but not limited to assistance with telecommunication and network installations, moves, adds and change support specifically related to the residence halls as well as software support on all related telecommunication applications as needed. This position requires great attention to detail, follow through and excellent communication. Organizational skills and ability to trouble shoot independently is a must. Strong customer service and support skills are required.
- Student TechSquad Lead
The Student TechSquad Lead will have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities and provide excellent customer service to all campus technology users. This person will attend weekly staff meetings to discuss team success, problems encountered and potential solutions. Maintain close collaboration with all IT Services staff to provide user base with current information and to seek appropriate assistance. Assist with special projects, document procedures and in-house training materials, train Student TechSquad Analysts and generate reports as needed.
- Student TechSquad Analyst
Good communication skills, phone skills, and basic computer skills needed to answer the phone and troubleshoot computer related problems for faculty and staff. Also will escalate phone calls that are not resolved to appropriate IT personnel.
- Student Technical Support Specialist
The Student Technical Support Specialist makes on-site visits to user departments to provide hardware and software technical support including configurations, installations, upgrades, and replacements. He/she performs diagnostics and escalates Remedy tickets as required to assure appropriate and prompt solutions to user problems. He/she is responsible for troubleshooting and imaging IT Services computer labs.
- Student Technical Support Specialist Supervisor
Supervise the ITS student technical support specialists (STSS); assist with hiring, training and mentoring new student employees; work with manager regarding work performance and raise recommendations; schedule and manage work hours; advise on training needs and assist in development of training; assist with overseeing maintenance of computer labs; troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve computer problems; set up and install new PCs and peripherals for staff; Monitor ticket system and distribute tickets as appropriate to staff; assist, train end users in the use of standard supported software; provide technical/field support to STSSs as needed; organize unit's workflow and special projects as needed.
- E-Learning Aide
The e-learning assistant helps the e-learning application specialist with support for the Desire2Learn course management system. He or she will also help develop training materials and conduct training sessions with faculty. Other duties as assigned.
- Student Project Assistant
Student Project Assistant helps the Project Manager to define IT initiatives from proposal and requirements to process. Project management or business analyst classes or experience preferred, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Technical knowledge in one or more of these areas required: HTML, Java, Access, SQL, Crystal Reports, and Oracle. He or she must have a working knowledge of Windows and UNIX server systems and Cisco networking architecture.
- Student Technology Assistant
This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Windows and the Apple Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office software. He or she removes hard drives from PCs and Apple computers, erases hard drives, and logs appropriate information. The position involves receiving, checking in and imaging new computers, as well as installing applications and configuring computers. Duties include lifting and moving computers and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Card Services Assistant
The Card Services Assistant diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves software, hardware and technical problems in a cross platform environment. He or she deals with customers to ensure that issues are promptly and satisfactorily resolved or assigned to the appropriate Application Specialist. Duties include installing, configuring, upgrading and replacing software, workstations and peripherals. He or she accurately documents incidents and resolutions to issues to build upon the solutions database, and performs other duties as necessary, as assigned by the Card Service Application Lead.
- Business Analyst
Responsibilities include defining project requirements, system feasibility studies, new system development, and testing requirements definition. The business analyst works in a team environment with Project Managers and other university clients. He or she must be able to communicate business and technology subject matter to functional and technical audiences. The position requires excellent communication skills and a knowledge of HTML, SQL, and database design. Proficiency with MS office, MS Project, MS Visio is required. BA/BS degree required, preferably in a business/technical/computer-related field.
- Student Security Analyst
The Student Security Analyst assists the Security Analyst with threat detection and the identification and remediation of malware. This person also helps to review pertinent logs, develop security strategies, audit system security postures, and to educate users concerning security specific initiatives. Excellent knowledge of Windows, *nix and other operating systems are required, a basic knowledge of networking and security related concepts is preferred, and programming experience in Python, Perl, or Bash scripting is beneficial. This position requires a willingness to learn new things and to work independently.
- Student Technical Support-Build Team
Responsibilities include imaging and setting up new Marquette PC and Mac computers and rebuilding computers with viruses or serious issues. Also, students provide desktop support to customers, installing, upgrading, replacing and configuring software applications. Work with other IT Services departments and outside vendors to ensure appropriate and prompt resolution of incidents generated by the IT Services TechSquad. Qualifications include technical skills in hardware and software, problem solving ability, organization and the ability to work independently and learn new information quickly.
- Graduate Assistant for Research Computing
The primary responsibilities of this position include managing MU HPC user accounts, care-and-feeding (opening cases with hardware vendor for break-fix, patching, general troubleshooting) of MU’s on premise HPC environment, and providing system users with HPC-related technical support and guidance. In general, the Graduate Assistant will act as backup support for the Research Engineer.
Qualifications include familiarity with the Linux operating system and comfortable working within a command-line shell environment; Redhat Linux (or related derivations) system administration experience is a plus; coding and scripting skills in at least one system administration programming language such as Bash, Perl, and/or Python; experience with C/C++, or Java is a plus; ability to build, install, and debug software in a Linux environment; experience working within an HPC environment and basic knowledge of parallel processing; basic HPC software management subject manner, including job scheduling, networking, and data storage. Familiarity with PBS or Condor is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related areas is preferred. This position is open only to Graduate School Students or a senior who has been accepted into Graduate School.
