Applying to Graduate School

Tips for Finding a Faculty Mentor

  • Go to MU.edu 
  • Type in the college that you’re interested in (e.g. “engineering”) 
  • Visit the “research” tab 
  • Select different research topics and/or faculty 
  • Thoroughly search through the faculty’s publications using Google Scholar  
  • Type in the name of the faculty member and read their most recent publication abstracts (it should be less than a paragraph) 
  • Email the faculty mentor using their Marquette email address to inquire about being a research assistant in their lab
