Accounting Analytics Certificate
Data is an asset, and those who know how to use it are at a significant advantage in the modern economy. The Accounting Analytics Certificate is designed for students and professionals looking to leverage their organization’s data and utilize it in business decision making and risk reduction. The certificate may be pursued to fulfill credits needed to obtain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license as well as by professionals who wish to deepen analytical skillsets. The structure of the program requires no coursework during the traditional “busy season” and is unique in that it provides foundational knowledge as well as the opportunity to pursue niche topics in government/nonprofit and fraud analytics.
All students admitted to the Accounting Analytics Certificate are required to complete at least 12 credit hours of course work with all courses being taken at the graduate level.
This certificate can be taken 100% online, and no programming knowledge is required! Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work with companies to explore real-world examples and tackle the issues that industries are struggling with currently, while giving strategic thought to challenges of the future.

Application Information
The certificate is designed for accounting professionals who want to learn more about data analytics. Certificate eligiblity requries a completed or nearly-completed bachelor's degree in accounting (or equivalent accounting course work which is typically 21 hours of U.S. GAAP based accounting courses – this includes 6 hours of Principles courses, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Advanced Accounting, one course in Taxation, and one course in Accounting Information Systems) from an accredited college or university.
This certificate has rolling admission, which means you may apply any time before the following dates:
- Fall term admissions – August 1 (June 1 for international applicants)
- Spring term admissions – December 15 (October 15 for international applicants)
Applications to the Accounting Analytics Certificate program require:
- A completed online application form and $50 fee, waived if you attend an online info session
- Official transcripts from all current and previous colleges except Marquette1
- Completed or nearly completed baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.750 GPA.

Additional requirements for international students:
1 Upon admission, final official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities, with certified English translations if original language is not English, must be submitted to the Graduate School within the first five weeks of the term of admission or a hold preventing registration for future terms will be placed on the student’s record.
