COMPETITION SUCCESS

The Cyber Eagles competition team was awarded travel funds by the NCAE PMO to compete in person at the NCAE Executive Leadership Forum in Gulfport, Mississippi between July 26, 2022 and July 28, 2022. During the hybrid competition event, the Cyber Eagles served as a red team  competing against teams from other NCAE institutions. The scenario for the competition was focused on the critical infrastructure found in maritime ports; the competition was called "Hack the Port, ELF edition." Without experience as a Red Team and with no prior knowledge of maritime operations, the five-person team decided to meet daily for many weeks to learn about technology and practice tactics. At the competition, the practice paid off; having built a substantial point gap over their competition, the Cyber Eagles were awarded First Place. Most importantly, according to the captain of the team, they all learned something and had fun.

Team membership is open to those new to cybersecurity and old-hands as well. Membership on the Team is open to all students from across campus.

Currently, the Cyber Eagles are meeting regularly to learn new skills and network with other students. As part of their meetings they have used exercises from the and other available resources. They are planning to compete in future national competitions. Participation in this team meetings is supported by Microsoft Teams, Participation provides hands-on experiences with real-world environments solving problems ranging from very simple to complex.
