How do I find a faculty member to work with?

Talk with you faculty advisor, faculty members whom you have had for class, and students who have participated in SURF. You can also contact Dr. Brian Schmit or Karen Jamiola for assistance.

Do I have to be a current ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ student?

Yes. This opportunity is only open to current undergraduate students in the Opus College of Engineering. 

Will I get paid as an undergraduate researcher? 

SURF students will earn up to $7,200. You and your faculty mentor will agree on an hourly rate (typically $10 to $15/ hour). Hours will be logged in "EmpCenter" and you will be paid on a biweekly basis.

Can I take a vacation with my family during the summer?

Proposed funded activities can take place from April 1 through December 31 and should have a concentrated effort during the summer. You and your faculty mentor can discuss particular vacation arrangements.
