The 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened October 1! Marquette financial aid officers will be available to answer your questions and help you complete your application. No need to set up an appointment! Stop by Raynor Library Room 227 during the following dates and times:

Thursday, November 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday, November 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

First Gen Connect

Hosted by the Career Center 

Thursday, November 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in AMU Lunda Room, 2nd floor

First generation college students are invited to attend this evening of storytelling and conversation with fellow first gen faculty, staff, alumni, and employer guests. Attendees will hear and share stories of the successes and challenges as members of the first gen MU community, and connect their MU degree to the world of work by meeting employers committed to hiring diverse talent. First-year through graduate students from all programs are encouraged to attend!

Light food and refreshments will be served courtesy of Kohl's Corporation. Marquette first gen shirts will be provided for the first 15 attendees. .

 

The Gathering

In partnership with the Counseling Center and the Center for Engagement and Inclusion

Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in AMU 252

Considering graduate school? Join this conversation with current first gen Marquette graduate students of color to hear about and learn from their experiences.  Facilitators from the Marquette Counseling Center, Dr. Marla Guerrero and Kari Lewis, M.S., host the Gathering every other Friday. Lunch is provided and Marquette first gen shirts will be provided for the first 20 attendees.

 

First Gen First Friday

Hosted by the Office of Engagement and Inclusion

Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in AMU 137

This First gen First Friday gathering will assume the format of an organized general body meeting, prioritizing community building and encouraging the collaboration and assembly of students from diverse backgrounds seeking solidarity. In a less formal seminar style, we will host a session consisting of activities and discussions to highlight topics relevant to being a first generation student on Marquette's campus.

Pizza will be provided and Marquette first gen shirts will be provided.

Law School 101

Monday, November 8 in Eckstein Hall Room 367 at 12:30 p.m. 

Presented by First Generation Professionals Student Organization 

Marquette Law School’s First Generation Professionals (FGP) is excited to present Law School 101! This event will provide participants with the opportunity to have a real conversation about law school from the perspective of first generation students. This event will be completely student led with panelists consisting of members of our FGP executive board. We will discuss topics such as law school classes, study tips, on-campus interview season, summer jobs, and more. We invite everyone interested to join us!

Please by Nov. 4. RSVP is not required but is recommended as those who RSVP will be guaranteed food. Additionally, the RSVP form includes a field for questions, so if you have any questions you would like to submit to our panelists, you can do so there.
