Physical Therapy Program highly ranked in U.S. News & World Report

New rankings released by U.S. News & World Report rated the Marquette Physical Therapy Program in the top 20 programs in the nation.


Graduate receives profession's highest student award

Carolyn Schmitz '23 was awarded a Mary McMillan Scholarship for exhibiting superior scholastic ability and potential for future professional contributions. 


Dr. Allison Hyngstrom, chair and professor of physical therapy in the College of Health Sciences, is one of two principal investigators on the award. The grant will fund the study of muscle fatigue in stroke survivors and solutions to increase their muscle performance.

Dr. Kristi Streeter receives Craig H Neilsen Foundation Grant                       

Dr. Kristi Streeter, assistant professor of physical therapy, has received a $400,000 grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation to expand her research on recovery of breathing function after damage to the spinal cord.   

Neuro Recovery Clinic participates in Clinical Trial

The NRC is participating in the ASPIREâ„¢ (Assessing non-invasive spinal Stimulation and PT/OT for motor Improvement Response with ExaStim) trial which is studying the use of the ExaStim device.  The ExaStim is a wirelessly-controlled neuromodulation system designed to deliver transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation (TSS). The study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of ExaStim in combination with traditional rehabilitation therapy as an adjunct therapy for individuals living with upper extremity paralysis due to spinal cord injury (SCI). The clinic is currently recruiting subjects for the study.
