Safety abroad is of primary importance to the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Office of International Education. While we cannot guarantee the safety of those traveling abroad, we will do our best to provide the tools for prevention and resources to use in the case of an incident abroad.
Before you do anything else, find a safe location. Your program will provide you with on-site emergency contact information. Keep it with you at all times.
STUDENTS:
Your on-site program director: Your on-site program director or staff in the international office at your institution may be helpful in providing a contact for a local medical service provider and can assist you with navigating the local health care culture. If your program does not have an on-site director or if you are unable to reach your on-site director, you may seek assistance through the mandatory international insurance and security assistance coverage or ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Office of International Education (see below).
International SOS: For medical evacuation and other 24/7 emergency assistance as well as routine, non-emergency requests for health information, direct billing with physicians and hospitals, and outpatient appointment scheduling.
