  • : Drs. Patrick McNamara and Chris W. Marshall, assistant professor of biological sciences in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, were highlighted for research they are conducting measuring the levels of quaternary ammonium compounds and antibiotic-resistance genes in select wastewater treatment plants and bodies of water in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. (Sept. 2021)
  • Dr. Brooke Mayer will be working with collaborators around the country as part of the new  funded by the National Science Foundation. The 5-year, $25 million research effort will focus on advancing phosphorus sustainability. Daniel Zitomer, Brooke Mayer, Anthony Parolari, Patrick McNamara and Walter McDonald from CCEE on their new grant from the titled "Novel Technologies to Mitigate Water Contamination for Resilient Infrastructure." The $3.8 million, 2-year contract is comprised of four individual projects targeting contaminant mitigation; improved disinfection of persistent surface-associated pathogens; electrochemical removal of the "for-ever" chemicals, PFAS; and water data fusion and analytics to mitigate soil and water contamination.
