"Dominic is from the Ashanti Region of Ghana in West Africa, an area renowned for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant festivals, and the production of kente cloth. His research interests center on exploring how media and popular culture represent diverse cultural identities and shape racial dynamics. He is particularly focused on examining the portrayal of minority identities in the media, analyzing the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity and nationality. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer, dabbling in photography, and passionately believes that J. Cole is the GOAT."

"I was born and raised in the southwestern part of Nigeria, where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Bowen University. My graduate school adventure is inspired by my desire to understand how the media can be a perpetuator and mitigating technique of stereotypes. I am also interested in human-computer interaction (HCI)."

"My name is Michelle, and I am a second-year international graduate student at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, pursuing a Master's degree in Media and Communication Studies. Born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala, I moved to Marquette in 2019 to earn my Honors Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in Digital Media and Advertising, a minor in Communication Studies, and a concentration in Communication Leadership (C-Lead). My research interests lie in media law and ethics, with a focus on the role of technology in a) deceptive and misleading advertising and b) political communication impacting voter turnout, freedom of expression, and media literacy. As a teaching assistant, I am committed to creating a dynamic and safe learning environment where I intellectually challenge my students to promote their success. By introducing students to a range of communication fields and encouraging them to critically consider ethical implications, I lay a foundational understanding that shapes their future careers. As I leverage my diverse knowledge, areas of research interest, and perspective as an international student and Marquette alumna, I promote authenticity and cultural awareness, fostering academic and social-emotional growth that empowers students to succeed in a globalized world."

"I am a first-year graduate student serving as a Teaching Assistant for Professor Sturgal's Comm 1000 course. I am originally from the Madison area, but I moved to a town near Burlington, WI, recently and will be living in Milwaukee for Graduate School. I studied International Studies with a Spanish Concentration, Environmental Science, and Peacebuilding for my undergraduate degree. I am interested in international affairs, political science communication, and environmental studies communications. I am also interested in religion and faith, specifically Catholicism and Catholic Social Teaching, and how they relate to current affairs."

I’m currently pursuing a Master's degree in Communication, where I plan to continue my studies with a PhD, focusing on health communication. Originally from Ghana, I moved to the U.S. to follow my passion for research and higher education. I’m deeply committed to making a positive impact through my work, and I find great purpose in helping others in meaningful ways. My keen attention to detail is one of my greatest strengths—I’m often the one who catches what others overlook.
